Maria Kysely Schneider is a Shareholder whose practice focuses on civil litigation. Her practice encompasses state and federal court litigation from pre-suit through appeals, with a particular emphasis on defending health care providers in malpractice proceedings, and defending health care providers in civil rights claims. Maria’s clients include physicians, clinics, nurses, hospitals, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, midwives, dentists, and other health care providers throughout Wisconsin. In addition, she has experience representing long-term care facilities, nursing homes, and assisted living facilities, as well as a general liability defense practice which includes automobile and premises liability cases. She also represents a wide variety of health care providers, as well as social workers, in administrative hearings before their respective licensing boards.

Maria believes in taking a collaborative approach in advocating for her professional clients that stresses the importance of attorney-client communication and the development of persuasive defense themes. Due to the unique nature of malpractice proceedings, Maria feels that proper case preparation is essential to successfully defending such claims. She continually strives to have a current understanding of the relevant medicine involved and the standard of care that applies to the given circumstances.

Maria has litigated hundreds of matters over the years and actively uses that experience in guiding the client through the process of a legal action. The goal is always to keep the client informed, prepared, and comfortable at each stage of the proceedings. Maria is a frequent lecturer to health care providers on licensing issues and risk prevention. Recognized by her peers as a litigation specialist, Maria was selected every year between 2007 – 2012 as a Wisconsin Super Lawyer – Rising Star and every year between 2013 – 2019 as a Wisconsin Super Lawyer in the area of medical malpractice defense. She is Martindale-Hubbell AV Rated. Maria has also been honored with distinction from America’s Top 100 Civil Defense Litigators® where she is among the ranks of some of the most esteemed Civil Defense Litigators throughout the country.
